Dinghy Show Visit 2004

On a cold and chilly morning, 05.00, to be precise, a coach containing 30 Club members, headed up the A30 on its way to Allexander Pallace to visit the dinghy show. This annual show has been in existence for quite a few years, and is a very popular event with the dinghy fraternity. After a stop at Bristol for refreshments and a full English breakfast for some, we pulled up outside the Pally at about 11.00. We all trooped into the complex and disappeared in various directions seeking out our personal favourite exhibits.

Some were just content to look around, but the majority elected to spend some money, and in some cases lots of money!! Lionel Rigby & Chris Hazell, the last of the big spenders, spent the least, £2.50. Whilst Kay Ecclestone spent the most£****.00 on a NEW Scorpion dinghy, & should be delivered / collected in June. Pete Barnes was not too far behind after buying a NEW Kestrell dinghy, this should be ready in May.

We gathered together at the agreed time of 16.00 for the return journey home. Amongst the other goodies purchased were, boots, jackets, dry suits, gloves, sunglasses and a few fittings. The journey out of London was very slow, due to masses of traffic, the dirt & squalor of Wembly and the area along the North Circular probably made us all aware that although we have to travel many hours to reach places like London, it is still far better to live in sunny Cornwall, despite the lower wages etc. It's just a shame that more people do not take advantage of our fantastic sailing waters. A stop just before Bristol allowed us all the opportunity of some welcome food & drink, before we set off again for the last leg of the journey, reaching St. Austell just before 22.30

The event was organised by Steve Coello and our coach booked by Paul Beacon. Thank you both for a very satisfying day out.
